Two things were happening on this day early in November at Palmer: Some old vines were pulled out and the soil around them loosened. This will make the new vines take hold better next year when they are planted. Later, in the barrel cellar, the 2005 was tasted to evaluate how it is coming along.
During the harvest, Palmer always has interns to help with the work. This gives these students real hands-on experience. This year is special, since the interns have come from many places and there is a majority of female students of oenology among them.
In a three-minute video visit, you can see some of the activities happening at Château Palmer during the 2006 Harvest. Learn more about this critical moment of the year and about the picking, sorting, crushing of grapes and the continual testing and tasting. (Mostly French spoken with English subtitles.)
